I especially enjoyed photographing this vintage year-round lake cabin on Lower Eau Claire Lake in Barnes, Wisconsin.  They don’t make ’em like they used to, and this lake home is a great example.  It has real character, and charming features that are rarely duplicated in modern construction.

Take, for example, all those round stones, probably found right there on the property, that cover every exposed surface of the entire foundation. That must have kept someone busy for a while.  Inside, the theme continues with the cabin’s massive stone fireplace.  And to help warm other rooms, part of the fireplace’s rear face is exposed in a corner of each bedroom.  That side is covered in these round stones, too.

The cabin also has a great waterfront.  But no stones here.  Just a gently sloping sand bottom, perfect for swimming.  To see more, just scroll on down.
